The Highlands is a Great Louisville Community
The Highlands is a great Louisville community in which to live, play, and work. The neighborhood starts at the junction of Lexington Road and Baxter Avenue, and runs south to Bardstown Road and Gardiner Lane. The entire area is filled with a variety of unique shops, coffee houses, restaurants, in addition to amazing architecture.
There are three beautiful parks in the Highlands. All conveniently located if you’d like to take a day for recreation with the family, or just sit quietly to read or study. Tyler Park has a lovely fountain, a playground for younger children, a tennis court, and a small track that encircles the area.
Cherokee Park is the largest of the parks in the Highlands and stretches the length of the scenic Cherokee Road area. It has a golf course, walking track, dog park, and a fishing lake. Cherokee often hosts weekly events during the summer months providing music and festivals for the entire family.
The list of restaurants that offer unique cuisine is unmatched anywhere in the city. You can dine on authentic Mexican at La Bamba. You family can experience international dishes at Ramsi’s or some Indian spice at Kashmir. The Highlands is also home to the renowned Lynn’s Paradise Café, which draws a host of celebrities every year at Derby.
If you happen to just be in the mood for a cup of hot tea or coffee, you’ll find that the Highlands hosts multiple great coffee houses including Highland’s Coffee, Starbucks, and Heine Brothers.
