10th Annual Ken-Ducky Derby September 28th
The Kentucky Derby is known around the world, but this weekend hosts the 10th anniversary of another derby in Kentucky. This Saturday, September 28th marks the 10th Annual Ken-Ducky Derby Festival which will be held at the Festival Plaza and Wharf on River Road near Joe's Crab Shack. The festivities will begin at 12:00 p.m. sharp and end at 5:00 p.m. with the actual duck race being called to post at 4:00 p.m.
Now attendees should not expect to see trained ducklings lining up to race down the Ohio, but instead will see over 30,000 rubber ducks bobbing along with the rolling river current. Anyone can purchase single or multiple ducks with prices starting at $5. The proceeds all go to benefit the Harbor House of Louisville. All the ducks are numbered and as they cross the finish line winners will be announced. There are multiple cash prizes available and the grand prize is a Honda Fit.
The 10th Annual Ken-Ducky Derby Festival on Saturday, September 28th is a free to attend, family friendly event from Noon until 5:00 p.m. There will be plenty of fun activities to enjoy before the race, such as food, games, a corn hole tournament, face painting and vendor booths featuring handcrafted goods. There will even be inflatables available for the little ones to bounce in and enjoy.
