2013 Hermitage Classic at Hermitage Farm September 13th - 15th
The Kentucky Derby is not the only horse event in the Louisville area and this weekend, the Hermitage Classic reminds horse lovers everywhere why. This equestrian event will begin on September 13th and continue through the 15th at Hermitage Farm, located at 10500 West Highway 42 in Prospect. The festivities will take place each day with free general admission, but ticket prices start at $45 for special events, for which children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
Top level competitors for this USEF-sanctioned event will gather just outside Louisville on these historic grounds, which were purchased back in the early 1800’s as part of an original land grant. The festivities will include 3 days of equestrian competition, pony pulled carriage rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, local merchants, craft booths and food and drink vendors.
The scheduled events are as follows:
Friday, September 13th hosts the Dressage competition beginning at 9:00 a.m. This is a prescribed sequence of movements between horse and rider, like a ballet on horseback.
Saturday, September 14th hosts the Marathon Competition, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This is an exciting obstacle course for horses, ponies and their riders. For an additional $100 per adult, spectators can attend the Blue Grass Motorsport VIP Hospitality Lounge which includes a special lunch and open bar.
Sunday, September 15th will host the Cones Competition, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This is a fitness and agility performance between horse and rider. Sunday will also offer the special Korbel Champagne Brunch for an additional $45 per adult.
