Adventure Day Camp at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park July 7th-11th
If you’ve got kids aged 7 to 12, summer can get a little rough for you. Why not give yourself a break, and send them on an adventure for a few days? E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park is sponsoring adventure day camp during the week of July 7 to 11. The kids get a chance to learn more about nature, and that gives parents a chance to take a few deep breaths during the action-packed summer season.
Away at Camp
Camp opens at 9 am and ends at 4 pm daily from July 7 to July 11. You’ll find the entrance to E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park at 3000 Freys Hill Road. Go to the activities building to drop the kids off. They definitely won’t be bored while they’re in the park. While they’re at adventure camp, kids will have a chance to make new friends, learn new things…and give parents some peaceful afternoons!
Kids will be taking hikes daily, so make sure they’ve got sturdy shoes. They’ll also need a sack lunch, swimsuit, towel and sunscreen. In addition to hiking through nature, they’ll be swimming every day and eating mid-day snacks. The kids will learn different adventurous activities during each day of the camp, including archery. Camp costs $110.
Around the Park
Next to Westport Road, E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park is surrounded by several of Louisville's most desirable neighborhoods. Creekside, Hickory Hill, Westwood and Briarwood are all near the park. The large, sprawling communities are filled with family homes and peaceful streets that are perfect for residents of all ages.
Even if you don’t live nearby, E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park is an amazing place to visit. The park has plenty of amenities, but you’ll also find lots of unspoiled nature when you go hiking in the woods. So give your kids an adventure this summer, and give yourself a little mini-vacation while they’re away.
