Celebrate Alexander Hamilton’s Birthday January 11
The Alexander Hamilton musical won’t be in Louisville this January, but Alexander Hamilton will! Go to the main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library to celebrate Alexander Hamilton’s birthday with a sing-a-long featuring the songs from the musical, and enjoy lots of other fun birthday activities.
Hamilton’s Birthday Bash
Everyone is invited to the Alexander Hamilton birthday celebration at the library. You’ll have the chance to have your photo taken with Alexander Hamilton, and you’re welcome to wear a costume if you like! There will be lots of activities and songs from the famous musical “Hamilton” as well. Because let’s face it, a birthday party is more fun than watching a play for hours and hours.
The party starts at 6 pm with an all-ages craft session inspired by the musical. The sing-a-long begins at 7:30. Stay until 8:15 for the costume showcase. Go to the party at the main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library at 301 York Street in Old Louisville.
Celebrating Old Louisville
The main library building was erected in 1905, and back then many of the homes in Old Louisville were new. This neighborhood is full of turn-of-the-century architecture, and it's filled with some of the best examples of that time period. All the majesty of the late Victorian period is on display in Old Louisville, where many homes soar three stories high amid the tall oak trees. Just blocks outside the bustle of the downtown area, Old Louisville is a quiet, shady neighborhood full of these stately old homes that still hold court with custom-made woodwork and stonework, gorgeous mosaic designs and breathtaking details around every corner.
The homes are just as impressive inside as they are stunning outside, because Old Louisville has been preserved over the years. Homes here are updated and refurbished over time to maintain their historic details and still give the people who live here all the comforts of modern life. The neighborhood is next to the UofL campus, so there's a youthful energy here. Though history is all around, Old Louisville is a modern neighborhood full of life and community spirit.
Enjoy an historic birthday bash in Old Louisville this January, and you’ll see how easy it is to enjoy this neighborhood.
