Celebrate Butterflies September 19
Head to Flutter Fest at the Louisville Zoo this September to see a truly spectacular sight: the Monarch butterfly migration. You’ll get the chance to learn more about these incredible beauties during your day at the zoo.
Flight of the Butterflies
Learn more about butterflies at different stations inside the zoo. You can even help zoo specialists tag monarch butterflies so they can be tracked. Monarchs head south in the winter like birds, going to central Mexico to stay warm during cooler months.
There will also be a variety of activities to enjoy, including the caterpillar to butterfly matching game and even a migration obstacle course. You can also make crafts that you can cherish for many winter seasons to come.
The day will end with a breathtaking butterfly release when 1,000 monarchs take wing and head or the sky. Flutter Fest is at the Louisville Zoo from 10 am to 2 pm. The zoo is at 1100 Trevilian Way. That’s practically right next door to Audubon Park, a neighborhood known for birds, beautiful homes and the country club.
Celebrating Audubon Park
The shaded streets of Audubon Park stretch out next to the Audubon Country Club, a beautiful patch of green. The neighborhood itself looks a little like an extension of the club thanks to all the rolling lawns and pretty homes. Audubon Park is a historic neighborhood that's full of traditional architecture. There are many bungalow homes here in pretty Craftsman designs, but you'll see lots of Colonial revival styles, too. In other words, you’ll see lots of picture-perfect, camera-ready homes in Audubon Park that are full of historic details and still packed with modern features.
Audubon Park homes are full of hardwood floors, modern lighting fixtures, fireplaces and cool extra features. Many homes here have outdoor living spaces and pretty garden areas. Some homes have cool architectural features, like arched doorways. Houses here also have high-end details like custom cabinets and all those little perks everyone wants in a home.
See if Audubon Park is everything you want in a neighborhood this September. Take a look at the butterflies at the zoo and the birds living in all the trees of Audubon Park and spend the day with your head in the clouds.
