Celebrate Memorial Day with Whiskey and Warbirds at Bowman Field May 25
Go to Bowman Field for Memorial Day and celebrate the holiday the right way: with whiskey and warbirds. You’ll be at the Vintage Warbirds Hangar, and you’ll be treated to cocktails from Old Forester. Isn’t that enough reason to celebrate Memorial Day?
Wings and Whiskey
What’s a Memorial Day celebration without chicken wings? Momma’s BBQ will provide the eats, and Old Forester will provide the drinks. Old Forester was the first bottled bourbon, so this brand has a long history in Kentucky. Taste some of the newly-released bourbons while you’re here, which includes an Original Batch from 1870 that you won’t want to miss.
Enjoy a delicious cocktail before you enter to win a door prize, and enjoy a day of looking at old planes. This is a men-only event for guys who want to be men -- which obviously involves a lot of burping and swapping tall tales. Be at Bowman Field from 5:30 to 7:30 for warbirds, wings, whiskey and all sorts of other fun stuff. Tickets to the event cost $20.
Around the Greens in Seneca Gardens
Before you visit the concrete and steel at Bowman Field with the boys, take the family to Seneca Gardens for a little green. This neighborhood is right next to the Seneca Golf Course, one of Louisville's prettiest outdoor places. Cherokee Park and the famous Highlands are nearby, which means you've probably driven past Seneca Gardens before on your way to some exciting event. Take a quiet walk through this neighborhood to enjoy a different kind of thrill.
Seneca Gardens was once an historic farmstead, and the soil is still rich beneath the rolling hills. The homes here are built in traditional, classic brick designs with southern-style architecture. Many of the homes have basements, garages and big extra spaces that growing families need. The timeless look of Seneca Gardens is a picture-perfect setting for any family walk, but be warned. Any family is bound to fall in love with the houses here.
Visit the Gardens and the Field this May, and celebrate the beautiful history of Louisville.
