Cheer at a World Championship Sporting Event July 30-31

Louisville, like any city, has its own quirks and its own unique places and people. That’s why Louisville has embraced the unusual characteristics of the city. And this July, you have the unique chance to see an unusual sort of sporting event, the World Championship Dainty Contest and Festival. This is a world championship event for athletes who are truly in their prime, those over 45.

Dainty Contest

The World Championship Dainty Contest and Festival is held every single year in Schnitzelburg. The Dainty Contest itself determines the world champion and there’s a festival atmosphere in the neighborhood. You will find games, drink specials, live music and lots more fun stuff going on. It’s absolutely free to attend this sporting event, whether you want to cheer on the athletes or maybe even compete yourself.

There will also be some fun extras, including a dunk tank, a baloney sandwich eating contest and all sorts of fun little events and sights. You can also practice for the big championship in the dainty batting cage.

Dainty is a German street game that was brought over here by the immigrants who built Schnitzelburg. Lots of people in Louisville have German heritage and even if you don’t, you probably enjoy some of the things that German culture has brought to those shores. Things like beer. And sausage. And pretzels. All of which you will find at the dainty championship. If you’ve never seen people over the age of 45, including some of Louisville’s most well-known professionals and politicians, hit sticks around on the street, this is an event you just don’t even want to miss.

Watch the dainty championship at Hauck’s Way at 1000 Goss Avenue.

Schnitzelburg is a World Class Neighborhood

Schnitzelburg is where you want to be if you want to get some authentic German cuisine or German beer. But this is also a hip and modern neighborhood where you can go see amazing stuff at the Art Sanctuary or get a fancy cup of something at the coffee shop. Maybe you'll come here to get a burger or go to the park. But you should definitely come here to see the real estate. Schnitzelburg is a fun mix of historic buildings, German culture and hip, trendy modern living.

The homes here retain their historic style. They range in size andthey give you the best of history and modern life. You may walk into one of these homes and see recessed lighting fixtures shining on a classic wooden fireplace and then walk through an arched doorway to a kitchen with stainless steel. Schnitzelburg is definitely unique. It's fun and sometimes quirky and it's always interesting. Does that sound like the place for you? Find out this July.
