Day of the Dead Celebration on November 2nd
We may not be in Mexico, but the spirit of El Dia De Los Muertos will be alive and well at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as they celebrate the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead on November 2nd. The time honored family festival pays tribute to both life and death and will be taking place at 1406 East Washington Street in Louisville from 5pm until 10pm.
The Day of the Dead may share its name with an iconic zombie movie, but it is actually a passionate festival that has origins dating back over 3,000 years. The authentic celebration in Mexico is spread out over All Saints Day on November 1st and All Souls Day on November 2nd.
The Day of the Dead Celebration will be a fun filled evening for all families that attend. There will be sugar skull and tissue flower workshops to help festival participants create a personal work of art to leave out and honor the spirits. Festival goers will also enjoy an abundance of food, live music, face painting, puppets, art cars and a candle light march. Crowds will also be entertained by a costume contest and some fabulous flamenco and fire dancers. Come Celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos on November 2nd at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Louisville from 5pm until 10pm.
