Don’t Miss These Amazing Louisville Christmas Light Displays
Christmas is here, and so is the Christmas cheer! Louisville, Kentucky is an ideal city to enjoy the holidays for families, couples, and singles alike, as the city offers a long list of events and activities to partake in. A number of Louisville residents enjoy the numerous Christmas displays in the form of light shows, which light up the night sky and spread Christmas cheer. Here are some of Louisville’s best Christmas light displays that you won’t want to miss.
World's Only Underground Drive: Lights Under Louisville
During the Christmas holidays, one of Louisville's geological and adventure attractions is transformed into a spectacle of brilliance and holiday spirit. The Mega cavern is a man-made cavern that spans underneath 17 miles of roadway, offering the world's only underground zip-lining course. During the Christmas season, Lights Under Louisville presents a drive-through Christmas light show that the kids will love. A great tour for all ages, this Christmas light show takes place in an environment that is rich in history, geology, and mining.
The only tour of its kind in the world, Lights Under Louisville will see the Mega cavern decorated with 850 lit characters and over 2 million points of light. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the holidays, with or without the kids. Drive your own vehicle through the tavern and enjoy this 30-40 minutes light show underneath the city! The cavern is open daily, Monday through Friday, from November 15th to January 1st.
KaLightoscope Christmas at The Galt House
If you are looking for a light display that is more child-friendly to enjoy this holiday season, KaLightoscope Christmas at The Galt House offers a spectacular landscape of large, lit Christmas sculptures, as well as a dinner show, and an arts marketplace. The little ones will be overjoyed with the life-sized gingerbread village they can walk through, and probably won't mind visiting Santa Claus or taking a stroll through the Candy Cane Forest, either. If you tire from walking, there is a Peppermint Express Train waiting to give you a tour.
Light Up Louisville and 40 Nights of Lights
Light Up Louisville is a tradition that takes place every year in Louisville, Kentucky, which essentially consists of exactly what its name describes: lighting up Louisville! Although the crowning of the lights has already taken place, the lights themselves will continue to sparkle in a nightly light show that includes synchronized music and light displays on the nearby buildings. Spanning from the Galt House to Fourth Street, the nightly event brings an array of activities, music, and - of course - plenty of brilliance that lights up the night sky.
There are numerous light displays to choose from for families and couples to enjoy this Christmas in Louisville, with each one of them drawing hundreds of viewers over the holidays. If you'd prefer to avoid the crowds this year, that doesn't mean you won't get to enjoy any spectacles of your own. Instead, take a stroll through some of the neighborhoods of Louisville, such as Lake Forest or Crescent Hill, and simply enjoy the many light displays on these neighborhood homes.
