Enjoy the JDRF Awareness Ride and Poker Run August 20
The annual JDRF Awareness Ride and Poker Run is back, and everyone’s invited. Help raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes, and have such a good time you’ll forget you’re actually supporting a great cause.
Ride, Play Poker, Have Fun
UAW Ford is hosting this event at the Ford Truck Plant at 3001 Chamberlain Lane. Registration begins at 8 am, and the ride starts at 10 am. All makes and models of motorcycle are welcome, and all motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome to come out and see the riders.
While you’re here, participate in the raffle or the silent auction to pick up some goods. You can also purchase a poker hand and get in the game. Riders will be taking a ride through the city all the way to Bardstown, KY, where the My Old Kentucky Home attraction is located. Tickets cost $30. That includes the ride fee, lunch, snacks and poker hands.
After the riders take a tour of the city, why not take one of your own? Stay a little closer to the action, and stay in Louisville to go see Anchorage.
Set Sail for Anchorage
Anchorage is just minutes away from the Ford plant, but it looks like a completely different world. You'll notice right away when you enter Anchorage, a neighborhood covered with a thick shade canopy and filled with rolling hills. The tree cover in Anchorage actually keeps this neighborhood cooler than the rest of the city, something residents definitely enjoy during the hot summer months.
It's easy to enjoy Anchorage any time of year. This is mostly a residential neighborhood, but Anchorage has a few things that certainly appeal to residents. There's a golf course right inside the neighborhood, plus a couple of places to get a bite to eat or enjoy a creative night out.
You'll see what really stands out in this neighborhood right away. Anchorage is best-known for its gorgeous homes, something you won't be able to miss when you come here. There are many estate homes here, custom-built houses that are truly palatial in appearance. Architecture styles from all decades are represented, and custom features are everywhere you look. Homes in Anchorage have pristine landscaping, breathtaking details, huge lots, curving driveways -- and that's just the outside. Inside, you'll find granite counters, hardwood floors, high-end fixtures, molding and all the features you'd expect to find in a house that looks like it could house royalty.
Raise your awareness of Anchorage this summer, and see how this neighborhood suits you.
