Family Canoe Day at Tom Wallace Lake
Summertime and water go hand in hand, especially during July. Tom Wallace Lake has created a cool Family Canoe Day for friends and families to enjoy. On Saturday July 7 plan to spend a relaxing day floating on the water, fishing or just enjoying the sites at the lake.
Anyone is welcome to attend, especially those with an interest in the flourishing life of the lake. Before taking a canoe out, your family can even spend some time on the shore learning about the incredible creatures thriving below. Canoe experts are available to point you in the right direction once you are ready to hit the water.
If you are new to Canoeing, have no fear. Instructors are available with all the equipment (canoe, paddles, and personal flotation devices) and advice needed to provide a relaxing, fun-filled day. Even the little ones can take hold of a paddle as this program is suitable for paddlers from age 5 and to adult.
If getting on the water isn’t your thing, there is still plenty to do at the lake. Tom Wallace Lake is conveniently located in Jefferson Memorial Forest about 15 minutes south of Louisville. This serene lake is vast and contains a fishing pier, picnic shelter and a small playground for the little ones.
If you like to fish, then you may want to bring a pole. Fishing is allowed from 8am until dusk. The lake itself is fully stocked. The familiar fishing families will find largemouth bass, sunfish species, bluegill and warmouth along with channel catfish, hybrid bluegill and rainbow trout. Maybe you can even catch your own dinner!
