Family-Friendly Events for the Louisville Area in April 2013
Louisville is a fantastic city for families, and there are lots of great family events going on all year round. April is a great month for family friendly activities. Even though you may have missed the Lego KidsFest, which truly is one of the greatest family friendly events Louisville offers in April, there are lots of other great events to check out. Read on for four more events you should see with the whole family.
Relay For Life 2013
Not only is this event a great opportunity for the whole family to bond, but you'll be bonding over a good cause. Relay For Life is a 24-hour walking or running relay, held from April 12th to April 13th this year. Your family can create your own team - or you can join a team with other families - and you'll raise money to support cancer research. Based at the University of Louisville, which is the leading center for cancer research in all of Kentucky, you can remember those who lost a cancer battle, celebrate those who have beat cancer, and help create a future without the disease.
If you don't think your family can spend the full 24 hours at the event, why not volunteer? You can still be part of the event and teach your children about a good cause by joining the committee.
The Kentucky State Rabbit Breeders Convention
Everyone loves furry animals, and Louisville's own rabbit convention is a great way to spend an afternoon or weekend. This year, the convention is held from April 13th to April 14th. With your free entry, you and your whole family can learn about the different breeds of purebred rabbit, and you can see which breed wins the overall Kentucky Cup.
Putt Fore the Patch
This is another great event that combines family fun with a good cause. Putt Fore the Patch is an indoor mini golf tournament aimed at helping local at-risk children and families. On April 17th, for just $20 per team, you will receive two drink coupons, you'll have the chance to win great prizes, you'll sample delicious appetizers from local chefs, and of course, you'll have a fantastic afternoon of mini golf.
ThunderBlast at the Kentucky Science Center
This is a must-do event this April in Louisville. Organized to be perfectly in sync with the largest fireworks display in North America, on April 20th you and your family can watch the fireworks after enjoying a day at the Kentucky Science Center. You'll get access to all the galleries in the center and there will be fun activities going on as well. You can enjoy all of this from just $50! As if this wasn't enough, there are also discounted IMAX tickets.
There are lots of fantastic family friendly events going on in Louisville. While there are great events to enjoy all year long, April is a particularly fun month for family-oriented events. If you're unsure of what to do with your family in the upcoming weeks, make sure you take part in at least one of these four events - your kids are sure to remember them!
