Gala to Benefit Kentucky Humane Society August 16
Put on the dog to benefit homeless cats and dogs at the Tuxes and Tails Benefit Gala and Auction on Saturday, August 16. The Kentucky Humane Society is hosting its 21st annual fundraiser at the Galt House in downtown Louisville with the theme "Fur-sailles: Let Them Eat Treats."
Take the Elevator Home at the Galt House
The elegant night includes a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and a live auction. Adoptable pets will attend the gala, too. The Fur-sailles After Party will follow the main event with music, dancing and more decadent surprises.
The event raised over $200,000 last year to contribute to the effort to find homes for over 6,000 pets in 2013. The Galt House is offering their "Take the Elevator Home" package for guests of the gala.
Open for Adoptions Seven Days a Week
The Kentucky Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness and is Kentucky's largest pet adoption and oldest animal welfare organization. The Kentucky Humane Society educates thousands of children each year on how to be humane pet guardians through their workshops and summer camps. The main office of the Kentucky Humane Society is located at 241 Steedly Drive and is open seven days a week for adoptions.
Tuxes and Tails Auction Advice
Powdered wigs and black tie are optional for the Versailles-inspired Tuxes and Tails Benefit Gala and Auction. Versailles was the home Louisville's namesake, Louis XVI, and his wife Marie Antoinette. The auction at the this event has traditionally become quite lively. The event is a fundraiser and a good cause, but remember the theme. The advice for attendees during the auction should be to "keep your head" but generously give your money.
