Gheens Science Hall Movie Screening Girl Rising March 22nd and 24th
Those planning a girl’s afternoon out might enjoy the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium’s presentation of the movie Girl Rising Friday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 24th at 3 p.m. both days. The film will be shown at the facility located at 106 West Brandeis Avenue in Louisville and admittance for the showing is free in order to promote the power of education.
The film is 100 minutes in length and packed full of powerful actresses like Meryl Streep, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Anne Hathaway and Kerry Washington, just to name a few. The performers each tell a story about the life, trials and tribulations of a female growing into adulthood and the difference education makes, all in nine different cultural situations.
These are real life inspirational stories about difficult circumstances, overcoming limitations and exhibiting inner strength. The movie was created as a global campaign to encourage the furthering of education.
The University of Louisville Women's Center and Gheens Science Hall, along with Rauch Planetarium, invite any and all to attend the March 22nd and March 24th showings of Girl Rising, and celebrate the power of what education can do around the world. Refreshments will be available at the concession stands for a fee.
