Go on Santa’s Safari at the Louisville Zoo December 17

Santa Claus has brought a bunch of his furry friends to the Louisville Zoo for Santa's Safari. Visit all the North Pole animals at the Zoo this December before they’re gone!

A Zoo Safari

Frosty the Snowman will lead the children in a sing-a-long of classic Christmas carols during the safari, which is from 10 am to 3 pm. You’ll visit Santa’s workshop where the elves are hard at work, and you can even create a holiday craft while you’re here. Mrs. Claus, a wonderful hostess, has fresh-baked cookies and milk, of course, and coffee for the grown-ups on the safari.

Louisville Zoo Santa's Safari

After you get your Santa Safari Passport, you’ll be ready to visit the heated buildings at the Zoo because you’re not actually visiting the North Pole, after all. Stop at each Safari station to visit with the animals, and talk to Zoo educators who can tell you more about the furry friends that help Santa every Christmas.

The Zoo is at 1100 Trevilian Way, just minutes outside of Deer Park.

Take Your Own Safari Through Deer Park

If you still want to see some wildlife after your trip to the Zoo, try Deer Park. This Highlands neighborhood is just down the road from the Zoo, and it has its own brand of uniqueness. Along with amazing architecture and interesting little places, Deer Park is peppered with deer statues painted in fun designs and vivid colors. Deer Park stands out even in the Highlands, which is pretty special. The Highlands is known for having a bit of everything: culture, fashion, art and life.

You can find it all in Deer Park. Several restaurants and nightspots are right next to the neighborhood on Bardstown Road, along with some of the better-known boutiques in the Highlands. Several schools are also right inside Deer Park, and the beautiful Bellarmine University campus is right next door.

Inside the main body of the neighborhood, Deer Park is full of historical architecture from the early 20th century. Craftsman-style and Art Deco-inspired homes from the 1920s, turn-of-the-century homes with Victorian designs, gorgeous family homes built with beautiful details are everywhere you look in Deer Park. Brick houses peek through the branches of tree-lined streets on all sides. See how many of them you fall in love with, and see Deer Park this December.
