Go to a Friday Night Paint Party February 8
Paint the night away at the South Louisville Community Center on February 8. The theme is “Be My Valentine Minion,” which already sounds like a whole lot of fun.
Friday Night Paint Party
Don’t care for the bar scene? Go to a paint party on Friday night instead, and have a good time. Painters of all skill levels, including total newbies, are more than welcome to come to this fun, social event. Meet other people and try your hand at painting. Who knows? You might end up being good at it!
The South Louisville Community Center is the newest addition to the Metro Parks recreation centers, and there's lots of stuff to do here. The gym here is open throughout the year, as are the indoor walking track and weight room. Kids love the teen room and the game room, and parents love the fact that these facilities are present. You’ll find the Center at 2911 Taylor Boulevard. Be there from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Tickets are $10 per person or $15 for two in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. Everyone aged 9 and older is welcome to come and paint, so feel free to bring your tween or teen with you. Space is limited, so call the community center to register in advance.
The community center is just a few blocks away from Beechmont, one of Louisville's historically beautiful neighborhoods.
Being in Beechmont
Beechmont’s beautiful location near Iroquois Park and natural beech trees that cast shade all over the neighborhood caught attention early. At the beginning of the 1900s, Beechmont was developed to be a beautiful neighborhood for some of Louisville's wealthiest residents. To this day, the area is home to pretty Craftsman-style homes that give the neighborhood a distinct look.
This neighborhood is also home to the Beechmont Community Center, where frequent community gatherings provide fun stuff to do. Small parks are located throughout the area, and some homes here even have views of the sprawling, expansive Iroquois Park. Iroquois Library is near the center of the neighborhood. Schools, coffee shops, restaurants and even a sports bar or two provide people in Beechmont with places to go. So, go see this neighborhood yourself this February, and you'll be picturing a life here yourself pretty soon.
