Go to the Germantown Blues Festival June 3 and 4
Celebrate the blues, good food and some of Louisville’s history all at the same time at the Germantown Schnitzelburg Blues Festival. This event is packed with music and you will be surrounded by lots of stuff to see and enjoy.
Shake Off the Blues
Head to the corner of Hickory Street and Burnett Avenue, right in the midst of the Germantown and Schnitzelburg neighborhoods. This whole festival is outdoors and all around, so you won't miss it. Admission is free, so you can enjoy both days of live music at no expense. The lineup includes a long list of great bands that will start performing on the outdoor stage beginning at 7 pm.
Live music, good food and the scenery of this part of the city is a great way to shake off the blues. Germantown and Schnitzelburg were settled by German immigrants who came to Louisville in the 1800s. German culture is still strong here. You can get authentic German cuisine and beer here. Meanwhile, you can get a look at some classic historic architecture from an earlier era of the city's past. While you're in this area anyway, take a look around at Germantown and see how much you like the homes here.
Being Happy in Germantown
Germantown is known for its historic shotgun homes made in vinyl siding, wood and brick. These homes have their own distinct looks, each one unique, and they're bigger than they first appear. Many houses here have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. They're charming on first sight, with historical details that immediately stand out. But once you look inside, you'll see how modern Germantown is.
The homes here may be historic outside but inside, you'll be floored by the modern features and decor. Gorgeous backsplashes, stainless steel touches, recessed lights, amazing flooring, you can find features like these in many Germantown homes. See if being in this neighborhood makes you happy this June.
