Have a Boo at the Zoo This October
Head to the center of the city for Boo at the Zoo this October. This is a kid-friendly Halloween-themed event that’s very fun and very safe for all.
A Night at the Zoo
Boo at the Zoo lasts every Thursday through Sunday night in October from 5 to 10 pm. During this special event, the zoo becomes a storybook that has come to life. All sorts of Halloween and fall characters will be here. Children 11 and under can go trick or treating here, too. There will be multiple booths for them to stop at.
There’s a fun Spooktacular Carousel for children to ride, a super cool spider house that you can walk through and all sorts of fun displays. You’ll also hear the legend of the Headless Horseman during this event, that famously frightening character from “Sleepy Hollow.”
The zoo is at 1100 Trevilian Way. That's just a short drive away from pretty Deer Park, a Highlands-area neighborhood that's full of character and charm. Deer Park manages to stand out even in the Highlands, a whole community that's known for its cool quirkiness.
Living in Deer Park
Deer Park has a unique charm that sets it apart even from other Highlands neighborhoods. Deer Park is a National Register District because it’s full of period shotgun homes and pretty Victorian styles. There are Craftsman-style bungalows throughout the neighborhood, along with lots of lovely revival designs. Deer Park is also full of restaurants and has quick access to lots of unique shops and cool attractions on Bardstown Road. The Highlands is full of places to enjoy theater, art, fashion and food.
The pretty multi-bedroom homes in Deer Park have plenty of historical features inside, too. Many homes here have hardwood floors, fireplaces, crown molding and other architectural details that make them so special. Once you start to see what living in Deer Park is like, you won't want to see yourself living anywhere else.
