Have a Clay Date at Magpie January 3
Bring a friend, a date or come alone to the Clay Date at Magpie. You can use the pottery wheel and make your own creation. And if you want to have a little something to drink while you’re getting all artsy, that’s fine! Just bring your own, and feel free to relax and have a good time. Because shouldn’t you always feel relaxed when you’re being creative?
Making Pottery
Pottery is one of the very oldest art forms. In fact, the ancient clay sculptures discovered by archaeologists are even older than the famous prehistoric cave paintings that are so well-known. Sculpting with clay is also a green activity, because there’s always more mud, right? Clay is essentially water and dirt, so you’ll be working with a renewable resource.
You’ll also be working with your hands, which is a very freeing experience. Get your creative juices flowing and give yourself the gift of having a nice, serene night where you’re simply making something great. This event is for people aged 18 and over and costs $30 per person, plus another $10 for glazing and firing. You’ll get the supplies you need and instruction to guide you through the process, and you’ll get to take your creation home with you!
Magpie Clay Studio and Gallery is at 2210 Frankfort Avenue. That’s in Clifton, a neighborhood that often inspires creativity.
Make Your Way to Clifton
People come to Clifton to sip on craft beer, to see the American Printing House for the Blind Museum, to shop in an antique store and to look at incredible real estate. Clifton is full of antique shops and independent restaurants, not to mention pretty, historic architecture. The homes in Clifton were built over the course of six decades because this neighborhood expanded slowly. That means there's a huge selection of homes in different styles, houses from different eras to explore.
Clifton has homes in all sizes and styles, enough to suit just about any taste. From a charming Craftsman-style two-story to a glittering, modern condo to a sweet shotgun home to a suburban-style dream, you can find it in Clifton.
Take yourself on a date to Clifton to go see the real estate here. Because after all, you need a place to put your new pottery!
