Go to Crescent Hill for an Independence Day celebration that will transport you right back to the past. The Peterson-Dumesnil House is hosting a special July 4 celebration that’s all about old-fashioned fun. The historic Crescent Hill neighborhood is the perfect place to step back in time.

Old Fashioned Independence

There's so much going on at this old-fashioned celebration, you won't know what to do next. The fun lasts from 10 am to 10 pm on Friday. This day begins with an opening ceremony from the Native American Veteran Warrior Society. A Tai Chi demonstration will follow. Musical performances from the Kentucky Bluebelles, Bomar and Ritter, the Barefoot Best Friends and other bands will keep the party going all day. The Moondance begins at 8 pm.

Independence Day Celebration

Go to the party on Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm to see the Bourbon Barrel Boys, Rascals of Ragtime and more performers. The Sons of the American Revolution Flag Display begins at 9:45, and fireworks start at 10. This is a family-friendly event that’s perfect for people of all ages, and the history is fun for anyone who wants to see a little bit of what the past was like.

You’ll find the party in Crescent Hill at the Peterson-Dumesnil House. It’s at 301 S. Peterson Avenue. If you stay around long enough, you’re going to find a lot of things to do in Crescent Hill.

On Crescent Hill

The first houses were built in Crescent Hill before the Civil War. There's still a lot of history in the neighborhood, like the gorgeous Peterson-Dumesnil House. But there are plenty of modern attractions in this community, too. There are many independent shops and restaurants, unique stores and cafes that you just won’t find anywhere else. And if people-watching isn’t your thing but you like being outdoors, no problem. The nearby Crescent Hill Golf Course attracts visitors from both inside and outside the community.

This neighborhood is packed with pretty homes in a collection of different architectural styles. You can find homes here from many different decades, put together in a variety of designs. Crescent Hill has plenty of amazing stuff to see and fun things to do. Explore some of them this July during your old-fashioned celebration, and see the mix of old and new that makes Crescent Hill one of Louisville's most interesting neighborhoods.
