Help Wishes Come True at the Big Wish Gala August 14
Go to the Make-A-Wish Big Wish Gala on August 14, and have a fun, inspirational evening. You’ll have dinner, see a show and get the chance to bid on auction items. There are also several surprises in store for the evening, stuff you have to attend the gala to see.
Wishing for a Great Gala
The Big Wish Gala is a great event that helps to benefit well-known Make-A-Wish foundation. During the gala, you’ll get to know more about the inspirational children who received wishes from the foundation.
The evening includes a delicious dinner and live entertainment. Bid on auction items while you’re there. Tickets cost $150, but you can share the cost and get a table of 10 for $1,500. The cost will help to provide funding for local Louisville children who are battling life-threatening medical problems. Your money will literally help someone's dream come true.
Go to the gala at the Louisville Marriott Downtown, 280 W. Jefferson Street, from 6 to 11 pm. This is the heart of downtown. It’s within walking distance of the river and close to the famous attraction 4th Street Live. But if you’re looking for someplace a little quieter, go a few blocks south to Old Louisville.
A Visit to the Old Louisville
Step back in time to Louisville’s past when you visit Old Louisville. It’s right next to the downtown neighborhood, but it’s about a century away from all the modern glass and steel buildings that make the city skyline so beautiful. Old Louisville is full of beautiful Victorian homes that were actually built during the Victorian era.
Step under the shady magnolia and oak trees to walk past breathtaking brick townhomes, captivating stone condos and historic apartments unlike anything else you’ll find in the city. Old Louisville is so beautiful and filled with so much interesting architecture, the neighborhood is listed on travel websites as a Louisville attraction. Not many communities can make the same boast.
Old Louisville is an attractive place to go whether you’re a local or a tourist, but the people who live here know it best and love it the most. There are community gatherings and get-togethers here throughout the year. The St. James Art Festival is one of the most well-known. Old Louisville is also home to Shakespeare in the Park and other city-wide events.
Go to the Make-A-Wish Gala this summer, and visit Old Louisville while you’re in the neighborhood. You may just go gaga for this one-of-a-kind Louisville community.
