Hidden Treasures Garden Tour in Old Louisville
One of the greatest things about summer is the variety of flora, fauna and flowers. This Saturday July 7th and Sunday July 8th Old Louisville is celebrating the more fragrant aspect of summer with their annual Hidden Treasures Garden Tour. The gateway to the gardens of paradise is in front of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum at 1402 Saint James Court and will be open from 10am till 5pm both days.
Both the eyes and the nose are sure to be pleased with the sweet floral scents wafting into the air and the variety of colored petals on display. You and the family will be walking through some of the most breath-taking garden creations in our fair city. Your eyes will behold 10 private gardens chosen for their outstanding achievements in landscape design and originality in the Old Louisville Neighborhood.
Another unique aspect of the Hidden Treasure Garden Tour is that you will be pacing along the paths of the past. The tour takes place in one of the nation’s largest Victorian residential neighborhoods. The homes themselves are architectural master works preserved to maintain their original elegance from the late 1800 to early 1900’s. The area itself is a relaxing place to take a stroll and visualize the days of old.
Refreshments and a break from the sun can be taken in the air-conditioned Haskins Hall wing of the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum. This tour itself is a paid event that includes the refreshments, a private auction, and a variety of venders offering art or garden-oriented products inside the Hall. Proceeds help to continue preservation and enhancements in the Old Louisville Historic Preservation District.
So if you are in the mood to celebrate the fragrant aspect of summer and support a good cause, come out to the Hidden Treasures Garden Tour.
