Join a Family Night Paint Party November 29
Bring the kids or grab a friend, and go to the Family Night Paint Party. This event is designed for all kids and adults aged 9 and over, whether or not you have any artistic skill.
The South Louisville Community Center is open for a paint party at 6:30 pm. Tickets come in pairs, two for $15. Get a ticket for an additional person for $10. Supplies will be on hand, so you don’t have to bring anything but yourself to the party. Meet other Louisville families, and have fun painting with your own family. Who knows? Maybe someone has a hidden talent for art that you never knew about before. Maybe it’s you!
Space is limited, so call the South Louisville Community Center to make sure there is room available. The Center is at 2911 Taylor Boulevard. That’s within sight of Churchill Downs, and just a few blocks outside the Shively neighborhood. This pretty suburb is stuffed with family homes, and full of interesting Louisville history.
Lively in Shively
“Lively Shively” was once a quiet place full of fields and rolling farmlands. But at the end of Prohibition, Shively became a center of the whiskey industry. Several distilleries opened in the neighborhood, giving Shively its reputation for being a lively place to live.
The distilleries have moved downtown and to other parts of Louisville, turning Shively into a quiet suburban neighborhood for schools, churches and the central Shively Park. The shady streets are full of family bungalows and ranch-style houses. Houses were built here over the last several decades, so you can find architecture styles from all areas scattered throughout Shively, including newer homes and beautifully renovated historic houses. See if your dream home is among the homes in Shively this November, and paint this little city red after your paint party.
