Join the Afterglow Paint Party April 18 and 19
Paint the town neon this spring at the Afterglow Paint Party, a unique event that's active and artistic at the same time. You'll literally be painting the town, as the expression goes, but not just in the color red. You'll be using non-toxic, glow-in-the-dark paint to create amazing colors on yourself, your friends, and anything else you might want to paint.
Paint at the Party
Go to Diamond Pub Concert Hall for this unusual, fun event. There will be more than 500 gallons of paint available for use. The paint glows in the dark, but it's not the only thing that will add color to this event. Confetti blasters, light sticks and special lighting effects keep the party looking lively the entire time.
Wear white clothing and become part of the scenery. You'll be painted along with everyone else, so white is the best possible way to show it off. If you're 21 and over, cocktails and bottle service will be available. Paint is free for your use.
The doors open at 10 pm, and the party goes until 3 am. You'll find the Diamond Pub Concert Hall at 630 Barrett Avenue. This is part of the Phoenix Hill neighborhood, inside the famous Louisville Highlands.
On Phoenix Hill
Phoenix Hill has a little bit of everything. This community has its own medical district, an entertainment district and even an arts district. Many businesses are within Phoenix Hill. You’ll also find the UofL hospital in this community.
Phoenix Hill is famous for its nightlife around the Phoenix Hill Tavern, but there’s lots to do here during the day. The Phoenix Hill Nulu Farmer’s Market is held here. Fresh baked goods and meats are for sale, in addition to the usual fruits and veggies.
Lucille Grant Park and Rubel Park are both in Phoenix Hill. Many children go to these parks to play at the playgrounds or in the athletic fields. Phoenix Hill, an historic neighborhood, is known for its shotgun houses. Many of these homes were newly revitalized and preserved in the 1970s, but a lot of new housing was also built in Phoenix Hill at this time.
The neighborhood continues to grow and improve, and new houses continue to be built in the community. You’ll be in the neighborhood this spring if you go to the Afterglow Paint Party, so you can take a look for yourself.
