Kentucky Derby Festival Volleyball Classic
The Derby Festival has officially started and the 25th Annual Kentucky Derby Festival Volleyball Classic Tournament will take place commencing this weekend! As with every year there will be two separate volleyball divisions, one for sand and the second for grass surfaces.
The sand division competition will take place on the white silica sand courts of Baxter Jack's located at 427 Baxter Avenue. Fans of volleyball have gathered here since 1991 to watch locals compete for fun. This is a free to watch event and tasty food, cool drinks and refreshing beer will all be available at the well-stocked concession stands. This part of the tournament takes place on Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The grass division will be competing on Saturday, April 27th and Sunday, April 28th at the beautiful Seneca Park. Families can bring a picnic lunch and lounge for an afternoon at the park while watching the annual tournament.
The next two weekends offer plenty of exciting outside entertainment at the 25th Annual Derby Festival Volleyball Classic Tournament. Whether you are there to watch or an actual participant, this sports competition has become a celebrated part of our Derby traditions, so come out to Baxter Jack’s and Seneca Park and enjoy the festivities!
