Kentucky Reggae Festival May 25th - 27th, 2013
The sounds of the Caribbean Isles will be echoing up and down the river starting Saturday, May 25th and continuing until Monday, May 27th at the annual Kentucky Reggae Festival. Dey be jammin' at the Louisville Water Tower on 3005 River Road in Louisville this Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., and on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Admissions for those aged 11 and up will be $8 prior to 6:00 p.m. and $11 after 6 p.m., with children aged 10 and under admitted for free. Parking is free during the entirety of the event.
This family-friendly event features not only top notch live reggae music, but will also have booths with authentic Jamaican and Caribbean vendors offering treasures, trinkets and clothing from the islands. There is a kids entertainment area for the little ones, but families are asked not to bring food, drinks or pets.
Food is unnecessary as the Jamaican Association of Louisville will be providing flavorful Jamaican and Caribbean dishes for festival goers, including jerk chicken, beef patties, fried plantains and curried goat.
The live entertainment schedule for the three day event is as follows:
Saturday, May 25th - Dem Reggae Bon 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., Indika with Ugochi 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. with the St. X Jungle Drummers performing between all acts, and Dub Tonic Kru from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Sunday, May 26th - Zion and the Lion Roots Band 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., The Ark Band 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. with Kyene Drum Ensemble performing between all acts, and The Cliftones from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Monday, May 27th - Dem Reggae Bon 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Anthem Band 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
