Learn a Little Louisville History November 7

A lot of important events in Louisville’s history were actually shaped by women. You probably know about some of the city's more famous male residents and visitors through history, Abraham Lincoln, Muhammed Ali, Colonel Sanders. This November, learn a little bit about the famous women who helped make Louisville great on a golf cart tour through Cave Hill Cemetery.

Golf Cart Tour

You'll ride a golf cart through a national historic monument that you can find near the Highlands, Cave Hill. A tour guide will lead you to some of the interesting areas of this large landmark and tell you some stories about notable female leaders who helped to shape modern Louisville.

Cave Hill Cemetery Golf Cart Tour Famous Women

Cave Hill is full of incredible statuary, rolling hills and plants. Yes it's a cemetery but it's also an incredibly beautiful, quiet spot. This place is steeped in history, too. It's the final resting place of some of Louisville’s most famous and loved former residents. See this place for yourself this November from noon to 2 pm. Tickets cost $25 per person. Cave Hill is at 701 Baxter Avenue. The only thing between Cave Hill and Cherokee Park is Cherokee Triangle. Go take another little tour of this neighborhood before you leave the area. You'll be glad you did.

Touring Cherokee Triangle

Cherokee Triangle is one of the city's older neighborhoods, though miles away from downtown. It was part of a military land grant way back in 1774, before the U.S. was even its own country. Much of the land was purchased in 1863 during the Civil War. The land was sold to developers a few years later and Cherokee Triangle was built. The developers wanted to create a perfect suburban environment. The beautiful lots, historic architecture and tree-lined streets here definitely have that effect.

Victorian-style homes stand tall in this neighborhood between the national landmark and the beautiful park, homes with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms that are surrounded by tall trees and pretty landscaping. The homes here each have a unique design and amazing standout features, from the lighting to the floors to the details in-between.

That's just the beginning. Cherokee Triangle is bordered by Bardstown Road and helps create the large Highlands community, a thriving area known for culture, shopping and cuisine. There’s an active nightlife here, not to mention the park right next door and all the outdoor adventure it offers. Take a little tour of this area and see if you love the look of life in the Cherokee Triangle.
