This event is designed for adults and children alike, so everyone can learn more about the science of archeology. You’ll get to handle actual artifacts and take a behind-the-scenes tour of one of Louisville's historic sites.
Archeology Lab Day
Get into the archaeology lab and get your hands on some real history at the Farnsley-Moremen Landing this January. You will actually wash, sort and even catalog real artifacts that have been uncovered right here. You’ll get to take a look at dig sites and learn more about the history of this interesting location.
Spend the day at the Farnsley-Moremen Landing. This lab day lasts from 10 am to 4 pm. This event is free, and everyone will get the chance to see artifacts up close. If your group contains 10 or more people, please call ahead.
Once, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing was a working farm. The fertile banks of the Ohio were perfect for the 300-acre farm, built in 1837. But even back then, this was a place steeped in history. Archaeology digs in the area have revealed prehistoric campsites that are thousands of years old. You'll find Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing in Valley Station. Do a little digging around this neighborhood, and soon you may find your dream home right here.
Digging Around in Valley Station
Riverside is just down the road from beautiful Sun Valley Park. There are adult and children's activities here all the time. During the school year, there are games and activities happening at Valley High School. The Southwest Regional Library, a brand-new jewel in Louisville's Free Public Library system, also hosts frequent community get-togethers for everyone in Valley Station to enjoy.
It's not hard to enjoy Valley Station. This is a beautiful riverside community of sidewalks, green lawns, big trees and winding streets full of multi-bedroom homes. Traditional brick homes, pretty stone contemporary houses, ranch styles, bungalows, homes with siding and houses with room to spare, you can find pretty much anything here.
