Learn How to Make Salsa August 26
Go to the UofL campus to learn how to make salsa on August 26 at the Garden Commons Workday and Salsa-Making Workshop, and have some fun enjoying the outdoors before summer ends. You're invited to go to the student-run organic garden to see how salsa grows.
Garden to Table
The freshest salsa starts in the garden, and that's where you'll start the day when you go to the Garden Commons Workday and Salsa-Making Workshop. You will be given tools and gloves to use while you gather your fresh salsa ingredients. After the harvest, join the workshop to learn how to turn those fresh veggies into tasty salsa. This event is held at UofL, but all members of the community are invited to join in. You don't have to be a student or faculty member to gather fresh mint, herbs and other vegetables you want to use in your salsa.
Go to the Garden Commons at the Cultural Center from 3 to 5 pm to join in the fun. You'll find it at 2301 S. 3rd Street, right on campus.
A Park Village
The beautiful University of Louisville campus is surrounded by neighborhoods and housing. Go a few blocks east of the campus, and you'll find pretty Parkway Village. Lots of neighborhoods around the campus are filled with youthful energy and fun spirit, and Parkway Village is no exception. But this community is also a place for families. The streets are quiet and peaceful, shaded by oak trees that stand guard over the many brick homes.
This neighborhood is just minutes away from the campus and all the fun and cultural events that are hosted here throughout the year. Parkway Village also has easy access to the Interstate. Clark Park and the Audubon Country Club are just minutes away. Parkway Village is close enough to the downtown area for residents to enjoy all the nightlife and daylife you can find here, but not so close that it gets rowdy on Friday nights. You have to get a little closer to the campus for that.
In other words, Parkway Village has a little bit of everything. It's just close enough to the fun stuff Louisville has to offer, and still far enough away to give families the peace and quiet they really crave. Go see Parkway Village for yourself after you spend some time in the garden, and see this hidden gem of Louisville for yourself.
