Lights Under Louisville Opens November 21
Every November, the Mega Cavern is turned into a wonderland under the city of Louisville. On November 21 the attraction will light up for the holidays and remain one of the regional area's top destinations through January 4 when the Louisville Mega Cavern goes back to business as usual - underground zip lines, tram tours and a being a storage facility. This spectacle is the only known underground light event, certainly, of its size. Over two million lights are illuminated through the passageways of the man made cavern.
Holiday Destination Under Louisville
The Mega Cavern began as part of Louisville Crushed Stone. It was created during the middle of the 20th century while stone was blasted away for over forty years during this time period. The underground space has been transformed by private investors into a Louisville tourist destination.
Lights Under Louisville attracts visitors from several states and has become a seasonal tradition for many Louisville families. The light spectacular has expanded to a thirty minute drive through experience with over 850 lit characters.
Single Price Per Carload
A ticket for entrance to the Louisville Mega Cavern's Lights Under Louisville is purchased on a per vehicle basis. Cars, trucks and minivans are $25 per car regardless of the number of occupants of the vehicle. Vans, church buses, school buses, limos and motor coaches all have different rates. You will drive your own vehicle through the Mega Cavern. Tickets are purchased at the entrance to the exhibit and must be purchase with cash or check only. The show is open Monday through Friday from 6:00pm-10:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 5:00pm-10:00pm. If you are interested in avoiding the crowds for your visit to Lights Under Louisville, it is advised that you visit Monday through Thursday or any night after 9:00pm.
