Living in Louisville: Outdoor Activities to Do with the Kids This Autumn
Just because the weather outside is getting frightful (read: colder and rainier), that does not mean that you have to make your kids stay indoors all the time. After all, even Dr. Seuss knew the potential mischief that children can get up to on a rainy day. Just because it's autumn, that does not mean that you can't go outside and indulge in some fun and healthy activities with the kids Louisville in particular is a city that is just bursting with options for families. Here are some outdoor activities that you can do with your kids this autumn.
Time to Check out the Waterfront Park
Even though the weather is indeed getting colder and the days are getting shorter, there are still plenty of beautiful autumn days to be had in the city. That's a great benefit to living in the south. A great outdoor activity this autumn is to simply take the kids with you as you explore the Waterfront Park. You can explore this swell park any way you want, whether by foot, by bike or even on a Segway scooter. You have your pick of enjoyable biking and walking paths all around the place, and you can even let your kids loose on the playgrounds all over the park.
Explore the Louisville Slugger Walk of Fame
Sure, New York has Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame, but Louisville has its own Walk of Fame: The Louisville Slugger Walk of Fame, to be precise. A highly popular destination in the city for baseball aficionados and curious travelers alike, the Walk of Fame stretches for an entire mile on the historic West and East Main Streets. The actual Walk of Fame begins at Louisville Slugger Field. The Walk of Fame comes to an end once you reach the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, which is also an ideal place for a picture of the whole family.
Visit the Zoo
In terms of reliability, visiting the zoo is always a great choice for getting your kids out of the house and outside, away from the TV and the video games. Of course, if you and your kids are already animal lovers--and who isn't?--then going to the Louisville Zoo is just the ticket. Your kids will enjoy seeing the sea lions and the polar bears at the zoo's brand new Glacier Run exhibit. There are also hands-on activities at the zoo, such as the chance to actually feed lorikeets and even go splashing in the zoo's waterpark.
These are three fun activities that you can do together with your kids this autumn in the city. It is getting colder outside and the sun is setting earlier than normal, but that is no excuse to keep your kids indoors. After all, the city has a lot of healthy and fun family activities that will keep your kids entertained and educated even as the autumn creeps in. And that's certainly better than the kids staying indoors and turning into couch potatoes.
