Louisville Nature Center Owl Hike July 19th
If you’ve been looking for a good reason to visit the Louisville Nature Center, how about a hike with the owls and naturalist Rosemary Bauman? The Owl Hike is appropriate for kids aged 6 and up, and every member of the family will learn something new during the event.
Take a Hike
Visit the Louisville Nature Center for an evening walk from 9 pm to 10:30 pm. Naturalist Rosemary Bauman will lead the hike. Be sure to dress for the outdoors. The walk will take you into the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve. Refreshments will be offered, so you can keep your strength up during this outdoor adventure.
The Nature Center is located at 3745 Illinois Avenue. For Nature Center members, the Owl Hike is $4 per person and $15 for families of 4 or more. Non-members will be asked to pay $6 per person, or $24 for families of 4 or more. Register for the event by noon sharp on July 19, and the sooner the better because space is limited.
The Midsummer Night’s Owl Hike will teach you more about these wise birds. You’ll begin with a short presentation and snacks. The hike follows. With luck, you’ll get to see actual owls during the informative walk that will get you closer to nature. Learn more about the wonders of nature, and the plants and animals that make Kentucky so unique.
Closer to Nature
The Louisville Nature Center is at the entrance to the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve, just off Poplar Level Road and next to the Louisville Zoo. The Poplar Level-Newburg Road area is near the center of the city, and a perfect community for those who want to live in the middle of the action. Both the Nature Center and the zoo offer regular family-friendly events, learning opportunities and eye-catching spectacles.
The Poplar Level neighborhood is just 5 miles south of downtown Louisville, but you'll feel far away from the skyscrapers and crowded streets. Poplar Level is surrounded by parks and outdoor attractions. But despite this, you'll find plenty of other attractions as well. The community offers shopping, eating and many other commercial distractions.
Visit with the owls after you go shopping in the community, and see Louisville wildlife even in the heart of the city.
