Make a Mini Weaving This December

Louisville is a city with a long history. You might know about some of the city’s most famous historic attractions, places like Churchill Downs or the fabulous Galt House. But do you know about the Little Loomhouse? Visit this more unknown piece of history this December and take a tour that includes a mini weaving lesson.

Weaving Lesson

Weaving is a truly ancient art form. It has been used by people to make things since the Stone Age. People were weaving in the caves to make baskets, mats and all sorts of objects that could truly be the difference between life and death.

Little Loomhouse Weaving Louisville

Things definitely aren’t that dire anymore, and many people don’t even know how to weave. If you’re one of them or even if you aren’t, go see the Little Loomhouse this December. You will get to take a little tour of this property, which dates to the 1800s, and learn a little more about the impact weaving has had on history and on Louisville.

You’ll also take a break and take a little mini-weaving lesson before the tour is over. This only takes about 20 minutes and you will create a little mini-rug, which can be used as a coaster or might spruce up a jewelry box or another area. Tickets cost $17 for adults aged 13 and over, $12 for children 5 to 12 years old and free for children four and under.

The Little Loomhouse is at 328 Kenwood Hill Road. That’s near Iroquois Park and it’s just a short drive away from Windsor Forest. This is a bit of a hidden gem of a neighborhood. Exploring the hills and winding streets here and you might start to treasure the idea of living here.

Weaving a New Life in Windsor Forest

Find one of the few entrances into Windsor Forest and within moments, you will find yourself in a neighborhood full of rolling hills and tall trees. In between them, you will see the homes. They have classic designs, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and lots and lots of living space.

This is a completely residential neighborhood with a sparkling lake and park area at its center. The homes here were made for everyday luxury. You will find features like gorgeous kitchen backsplashes, gleaming wood floors, chair railings, custom cabinets and counters and plenty of wide open spaces and open, airy floor plans. Get a look at the lovely homes here and you might decide to include Windsor Forest in all your future plans.
