Make Your Holiday Stocking November 15

The stocking is a big part of winter holiday decorations. Famous movies, short stories, poems and even songs reference the holiday stocking, that wonderful item that Santa Claus fills up with little gifts and goodies. As the legend goes, you may find your stocking full of coal if you’ve been bad! This November, make your own holiday stocking that you sew yourself in a fun Holiday Stocking Workshop at the Southwest Regional Library.

Stocking Making

Once, it was the norm to make holiday decorations. People did it together as part of the festivities. Now, most people buy all of their decorations, which can get super expensive pretty quickly. So this November, learn how to make one of these important decorations fairly quickly and easily using red felt. This is a classic stocking material and it will make a lovely decoration once you’re done.

Holiday Stocking Workshop

You can use little iron-on items to add extra detail to your stocking and make it truly your own. This workshop is open to everyone 16 and older. Attend the class from 6 to 7 pm at the pretty Southwest Regional Library. That’s at 9725 Dixie Highway in the Valley Station neighborhood. This community has a famous haunted building, a cool historic location, a gorgeous waterfront park and a bunch of other reasons to like it here.

Making the Most Out of Valley Station

Valley Station is a large neighborhood next to the river, a few miles away from downtown. Originally, people came here to escape the heat of the city, retreating to all the green hills and tall trees they found here. Valley Station is still known for these pretty features and makes the most of them with parks and golf courses. You’ll find schools and restaurants here, too, grocery stores and shops and salons and all the places you want to find when you’re looking for a place to live.

This is a huge and mostly residential neighborhood. Valley Station is known for its homes. Here, they come in all shapes and sizes. Get a cozy one-bedroom bungalow, a sprawling ranch home with a huge backyard, a two-story home with multiple bedrooms and a big garage. Do you want a swimming pool? A finished basement? Gorgeous stone counters? All of the above? You can find whatever you’re looking for in Valley Station because there are many homes to choose from in lots of little subdivisions that have their own look and vibe.

Go exploring in this neighborhood this November and you might start making some really big post-holiday plans.
