The German American Club, Gesangverein, Inc. was established in 1878 by a local immigrant named Louis Vormbrock. The club's original location was at Beck's Hall on Jefferson Street. The venue started out with only fifteen members deemed the Sozialer Männerchor, who shared a love of their German culture and music. They established a musical group, hired Otto Schuler as a music director and started presenting concerts back in 1879. The club continued to evolve and moved several times before making a permanent home on Lincoln Avenue in 1964.
Those that appreciate traditional German food, ale and music won’t want to miss the monthly Biergarten at the German American Club on November 9th at 6:00 p.m.
