Mother’s Day Brunch and Walk at the Louisville Nature Center May 13
This Mother’s Day, do something a little different. Take Mom to the Louisville Nature Center and enjoy a Mother's Day Brunch, and then go on a nature walk together.
Guided Nature Walk
Your day with Mom will begin with light brunch and beverages. Afterwards, the two of you will go on a guided walk through the gardens and woods at the beautiful Louisville Nature Center. The Louisville Nature Center has several unique features to delight moms and daughters of all ages. There are gardens that attract seasonal butterflies, a wildflower garden and pond, multiple hiking trails, and a bird blind unlike any other. There are several exhibits that honor native Kentucky wildlife here as well.
Admission for this special event is $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12. Be there from 10 am to 1 pm, and take mom out to enjoy nature. And if the Louisville weather doesn’t quite agree with you, there’s stuff to do indoors here, too! The Louisville Nature Center is at 3745 Illinois Avenue. That’s next to the Belknap neighborhood. After you explore a little nature, go see this historic Louisville community.
Take a Self-Guided Tour Through Belknap
Belknap is next to the Highlands, near a particular stretch of Bardstown Road where you'll find the Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen, along with several other restaurants. This neighborhood is also home to Bellarmine University. But among the winding streets of Belknap, it's the homes that really stand out.
Long ago, Belknap was all farmland. The neighborhood was also known for its stagecoach stop, which was used frequently by Abraham Lincoln when he was visited the Speed family at Farmington. Today, Belknap is full of one-of-a-kind homes that span several different architecture styles because they span several different decades. Arts and Crafts homes, 1900s American styles, Dutch Colonial and other design styles are on display here. In fact, Belknap even won a national Neighborhoods, USA award.
Homes here have features like hardwood floors, stone construction, fireplaces, garages and big closets. Do some adventuring for Mother’s Day, and explore the wilds of the Highlands in Belknap after you visit with nature.
