Old Louisville Exuberant, Elegant and Alive Walking Tour on May 24th
Spend the afternoon on the Old Louisville Exuberant, Elegant and Alive walking tour showcasing one of Louisville's gems and get rid of your old shoes along the way! The Old Louisville neighborhood was not so long ago a rundown area with abandoned homes. The neighborhood is now vibrant and filled with people who are passionate caretakers of the Victorian and Edwardian homes of Old Louisville.
A Fundraiser for Restoration Work at Conrad-Caldwell House
David Domine has published a book titled Old Louisville Exuberant, Elegant & Alive featuring photographs and histories of sixty of the Old Louisville neighborhood homes. The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum is hosting a walking tour of ten of the homes on Saturday, May 24th. The tour is a fundraiser for the restoration efforts at the Conrad-Caldwell House. Tickets are $20.
Get Your Copy of the Book Signed by the Author
The museum will have copies of Old Louisville Exuberant, Elegant & Alive for sale, and David Domine will be at the museum to sign copies of his book during the tour. Refreshments and baked goods will be available for purchase in Haskins Hall at the museum.
Wear Your Comfortable Shoes and Give Away Your Old Shoes
In keeping with the walking theme, there will be collection points on the walking tour for your used but no longer needed shoes. The donated shoes will be given to WaterStep who in turn sells shoes of all types, sizes and conditions to an exporter. The money generated from the shoe sales is used to fund WaterStep's work around the world bringing safe drinking water to communities where there previously was none.
Put on a pair of comfortable shoes you still love, toss a pair or two you don't love in a bag, and come to Old Louisville for the afternoon on May 24th to enjoy the magnificent architecture.
