Join the St. Matthews 5K on July 29, and race through the neighborhood. Eat and have fun at the cookout after the race, and get a good look at this Louisville community while you’re out running around.
Running Around St. Matthews
Go to St. Matthews on July 29, and be ready to race. The fun doesn’t begin until 7 pm, so the hot summer day will be cooling off while you run. You’ll begin and end the race at Bethel St. Paul Church. You’ll find it at 4004 Shelbyville Road.
In St. Matthews, Shelbyville Road is the main hub of activity. This is where you’ll find the huge St. Matthews Mall, a mecca for shopping lovers, and lots of different places to spend your time. Shelbyville Road offers places of beauty, places to find entertainment and plenty of places to eat.
Take a look at St. Matthews while you’re running, or even while you're watching the race. The proceeds of this event will benefit the West End School and Kosair Charities. After the race ends at the church, an awards ceremony will follow.
Once the awards are over, it’s time to have fun. Go to the Saints Pizza and Pub, where all runners are invited to partake in a free cookout. You’ll also get a T-shirt to show off your participation. Students and teachers of the West End School, people that will you be directly helping, will also be at the party. The race registration fee of $30 includes the food you’ll be eating.
St. Matthews is a large Louisville neighborhood filled with several subdivisions. People in Louisville know St. Matthews for its many fun attractions, but people who live here know it's a great neighborhood with nearby schools, lots of parks and beautiful homes of all sizes.
