See an Exhibit of Women’s History This March

March is women’s history month. And this March, you can celebrate women’s history in a Louisville landmark that many people don’t know about. Visit Rose Pero and the Cross Country Weavers Guild to get the chance to see some cool stuff and learn more about one of the city’s hidden gems.

The Weavers Guild

This special exhibit that begins on March 6 and runs all month long is all about Rose Pero and the Cross Country Weavers Guild. If you don’t know anything about any of that, great! That’s totally the point. So head to the Little Loomhouse and learn more about it while you see some great artwork.

Rose Pero and Cross Country Weavers Guild

It’s absolutely free to see this exhibit, which is open daily from 11 am to 3 pm. You can find it at the Little Loomhouse. This isn’t one of the city’s big, flashy attractions like Churchill Downs but it does have some really amazing history and some great stuff to see. The women’s history exhibit is at the Lou Tate Gallery, which is always a great place to see folk art. This exhibit showcases weaving projects that haven’t been publicly displayed since the 1960s.

The Little Loomhouse is at 328 Kenwood Hill Road. That’s just a few blocks away from Beechmont, one of Louisville’s historic neighborhoods. Beechmont is a bit flashier because it’s just minutes away from what is probably the city’s most famous attraction of all, Churchill Downs.

A Great Exhibition of Architecture

Beechmont is between Iroquois Park and Churchill Downs, giving it one of the best locations in the city. This neighborhood knows it, too! There are many restaurants in Beechmont where you can sample cuisine from all over the globe. The neighborhood also has parks, a community center and all the little shops and marts you might need to visit while running errands.

This neighborhood also has schools and its own post office. But mostly, this neighborhood has tree-lined streets with beautiful historic homes. The pretty bungalow-style homes here have all sorts of details inside and out that set them apart and make them special. The multi-bedrooms in Beechmont each stand out and many of them also have bright paint colors to enhance their eye-catching designs.

Spend a little time looking at some of Louisville’s history this March and you may end up planning your future here.
