Shoot Some Pool This October
There are a lot of places that are still closed and a lot of things you still can't do. But you don't have to get antsy sitting in the house. Take yourself out for a night of shooting pool at Diamond Pub and Billiards this October, because there's at least one place that is still open every single day of the week.
Play a Few Games
Head to Diamond Pub and Billiards this October and play a few games of pool. There's a huge pool room here where the tables are spaced far enough apart for you to observe social distancing. There's also a full bar inside with huge, big-screen TVs where you can watch the game and a great outdoor deck area that often has live entertainment. There's also a huge menu full of food, where you can find everything from sandwiches to salads and all the bar foods you crave, too.
Diamond is open Sunday from 1 pm to 2 am, Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 2 am and 11 am to 4 am Friday and Saturday night. The kitchen is open until 1 am every night. Go to the Highlands to find Diamond Pub and Billiards at 630 Barret Avenue. That's just a couple blocks outside of Smoketown, a neighborhood with a rich past and a bright future.
Shoot on Over to Smoketown
Smoketown got its name from the many kilns that used to be here. The kilns, used to fire bricks, filled the air around the neighborhood with smoke. A lot has changed since then, but the name of the neighborhood hasn't. People have been living in Smoketown since the early 1800s, and it shows. This area is still full of amazing historic architecture and it's still got a great location. Smoketown is between downtown Louisville, the Highlands, Old Louisville and several of the city's other cool, hip neighborhoods.
This community is still full of great historic shotgun and bungalow-style homes that have historic architecture and cool features like hardwood floors and crown molding. However, they don't have all that other old stuff from back in the 1800s. Many homes here have been revitalized and upgraded, updated for modern times. That gives residents here the best of historic architecture and the best of modern living at the same time.
See if this is the best neighborhood for you this October and go see Smoketown. Who knows how this neighborhood from the past may just shape your future?
