Shop for Crafts at Springfest May 18

Spring is the perfect time of year to clean out the closets, work out in the garden and maybe spruce up the house a bit. Springfest at Toonerville Trolley Park is the perfect place to browse for handmade art and crafts of all kinds, and a perfect opportunity to see one of the city’s prettiest neighborhoods in bloom.

Springfest

You will head to one of the city’s most historic locations to celebrate Springfest, which is held in Old Louisville. Louisville has a long tradition of welcoming artists to the city and there are several different art festivals held here throughout the year. Springfest is exclusively for handmade items. That means everything you see here is truly one-of-a-kind.

Springfest at Toonerville Trolley Park

There will be a festival atmosphere in the air. Along with all the art, you will hear live music all day. There’s a beer garden for the adults where you can try a bourbon slushie and for the kids, an entire inflatable zone for them to bounce around in. There will also be plenty of food trucks from local restaurants.

The entire event is free to attend. Be there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to browse the art and enjoy the fun. Springfest is held at Toonerville Trolley Park at 1215 S. Brook Street. It’s a historic spot in the middle of a historic neighborhood. Old Louisville is a place that definitely stands out. And once you see the real estate here, you might want to do a little real estate shipping while you’re here.

Shopping Around Old Louisville

Each and every home here was custom built and most of them date to the late 1800s and early 1900s, when Victorian architecture was highly popular. You will see lots of round rooms and arches, asymmetrical home designs and tall windows, all features that harken back to this era of design.

Victorian architecture and Old Louisville itself was known for its over-the-top embellishments. You will also find custom mosaics, gorgeous glass and ironwork, marble accents and all sorts of amazing features here. You might even see a chandelier or a winding staircase in some of the homes here. Each one has its own features and some of them are probably not as out of your price range as you may think. Once, these homes were built for the wealthy elite. But today, it’s a little easier for anyone to live like Louisville royalty in Old Louisville!
