At the Immersive Experience at the Kentucky International Convention Center, you basically step inside the art of Vincent Van Gogh. The swirling colors, the stunning images, the bright worlds he painted will all come alive and surround you.
Beyond Van Gogh
The show uses still and moving art. The artworks literally appear across multiple surfaces and move around the room. They move around you. Paintings from Van Gogh will be literally projected onto every surface around you. It really is as if you've stepped inside one of Van Gogh's paintings.
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/182/image/Beyond_Van_Gogh_Exhibit_Louisville.jpg" width="350" height="175" alt="Beyond Van Gogh Exhibit Louisville" title="Beyond Van Gogh Exhibit Louisville" />
There's also music that plays to help enhance the art dancing and swirling all around you. Van Gogh is known for being something of a troubled genius, an absolutely brilliant artist who could not reckon with the demons in his own mind. The battles that played out within him are visible on his canvas. At this exhibit, you can step inside that world, step inside Van Gogh's mind, and truly experience the art.
In other words, it's just super cool. You'll see pretty art all around and hear some good music. Plus, the place is air-conditioned and in July, that's a deal you just can't beat. So go to the Beyond Van Gogh exhibit and go step inside some paintings.
Admission is $24 to $85 per person, depending on ticket type. See the exhibit at the Kentucky International Convention Center at 221 S. 4th Street. That's right in the heart of downtown Louisville and that's just blocks away from Butchertown. This neighborhood is one of the city's great historic communities that's full of modern appeal.
Paint a New Life in Butchertown
Shortly after Van Gogh gave his paintings to the world, a man whom many called a wizard came along: Thomas Edison. But before he was famous for his light bulb and a whole bunch of other stuff, he made his home in Butchertown. After you see the real estate here, you just might want to do the same thing.
Butchertown is known for its shotgun homes, buildings that date back to some of the earliest days of the city. They have that distinct look where they're actually bigger than they appear because the buildings go back farther than you realize at first. They have cool features like brick accent walls and interesting architectural details.
But these homes have also been modernized and updated. Butchertown has a hip vibe and it's a very modern neighborhood with the latest in food and fashion. It's an interesting mix of history and modern living and it gives Butchertown a vibe that's all its own. See how you vibe with Butchertown this July.

Find Your Permanent Place in Camp Taylor
Next to the lovely Audubon Country Club and surrounding the historic Taylor Memorial Park, you'll find Camp Taylor. This neighborhood has literally inspired one of the greatest of writers, helped America win the Great War and it makes a great place to live.
Camp Taylor is named for President Zachary Taylor. He was the 12th President of the United States and a major general in the Mexican-American War. Taylor lived in Kentucky as a boy, and settled right near Louisville in a log cabin. Later, the family moved into a brick house. That area is now a beautiful park, and there's a beautiful neighborhood on what was once the country's largest military training camp. Tens of thousands of soldiers lived here during WWI, including legendary author F. Scott Fitzgerald. He even mentions Camp Taylor in his most famous book, "The Great Gatsby."
Today, Camp Taylor is a pretty, modern neighborhood full of classic architecture. Cozy, bungalow-style homes line the quiet, tree-lined streets here. Veer into Audubon Park
Audubon Park isn't a park, it's a neighborhood. But this community is so green and shady, it's hard to tell the difference. Audubon Park is actually home to several small parks throughout the neighborhood: 6, to be exact. It's also right next to the sprawling Audubon Country Club.
It's easy to see why this historic Louisville neighborhood, originally built in the early 1900s, has been so well-preserved over the years. This is exactly the type of neighborhood you want to maintain and preserve, because it's full of so many beautiful homes. Audubon Park is home of Colonial, federal and even California bungalow design styles, the trendy architecture that was so popular in the 1910s and 1920s. It's a look that everyone wants today, and when you look at Audubon Park you're probably going to want to live here, too.
The location can't be beat, especially for families with children. The Louisville Zoo, the Mega Cavern and the Expo Center are within minutes of the neighborhood. The nearby schools are well-liked by parents, and the neighborhood itself is almost all residential. It won't take long for the charming homes in Audubon Park to charm you this June.

Browse a Bit in Audubon Park
Right next to the country club, Audubon Park is a very green neighborhood. There are trees everywhere here, which is perhaps why all the streets are named for birds. A lot of birds make their home here, and they aren't the only ones. Many Louisville families are drawn to this neighborhood that's just minutes away from the zoo and Kentucky Kingdom, two popular attractions with kids.
Poplar Level Road is a stone's throw from the neighborhood, in case you're looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. If you want to do some shopping, head to Preston Highway on the other side of the neighborhood. Audubon Park is surrounded by stuff to do. Inside the neighborhood, you'll find lots of stuff to see.
The historic home designs in Audubon Park give this neighborhood a truly distinct look. This neighborhood is full of Colonial, Craftsman and pretty bungalow home styles. In fact, the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Residents here are proud of their neighborhood and proud of their homes, and it shows. The houses here may be historic, but they have been maintained and updated over the years. Inside, homes here have all the modern features and upgraded systems you'd expect to find in a much newer home -- but outside, all those great historic details are still present.
Shop around a bit in Audubon Park, and pick out which home you might want.

Since this neighborhood is mostly residential, the streets in Audubon Park are quiet. They're also all named after birds, a particular quirk of this neighborhood that was done to honor one of America's most famous bird experts. The tall, towering trees make nice homes for lots of native Louisville birds and plenty of people who want to live in Louisville, too. Even the homes that are historic have been updated and renovated over the years so they have all the modern features you want to have in a home. Be at the flea market from 10 am to 6 pm, and parking for the day is half off with the purchase of your admission. How much is admission? It’s free, of course! The flea market Spooktacular is at 937 Phillips Lane at the Kentucky Exposition Center. That’s right near the center of the city, and that’s right next to a pretty little neighborhood that has one of the city’s best locations: Audubon Park.
A Life in Audubon Park
People who live in Audubon Park are next to the Expo Center and all the fun stuff it offers throughout the year, but they’re also next to the Louisville Zoo. Both are two of the city’s favorite family-friendly attractions, and Audubon Park is one of the city’s popular family neighborhoods.
Audubon Park really is next to a park. It shares the neighborhood with the rolling greens of the Audubon Country Club, and it's just blocks away from the lush Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve. If you want to see amazing plants and wildlife, you have no shortage of options when you're in Audubon Park. And when you need to take your little wild animals somewhere to have some fun and maybe burn off energy, the Expo Center is a great choice.
With quick access to Poplar Level Road and the expressway, Audubon Park is close to shopping, eating and entertainment. The large, comfortable family homes you'll find on the tree-lined streets are designed with classic good looks. The traditional architecture has a timeless look to it, but inside these homes are very modern. You'll find many upgraded kitchens and bathrooms here, because the roomy interiors of these homes have been modernized over the years. That gives homes in Audubon Park all the character of classic architecture and styling, but with all the comfort of modern technology.
After you haunt the great bargains at the Spooktacular, take a look around Audubon Park -- and see if it inspires you to do a little more buying before you leave.

Several local Louisville charities will benefit from the proceeds of Funtopia, so you’re actually helping the community by attending. That’s a pretty good excuse for having lots of fun at the Expo Center. You’ll find it near the center of the city, near the airport and the amusement park. You’ll find lots of amazing stuff to do around this part of Louisville, in fact, but you can also find some really amazing places to live.
All’s Well in Audubon Park
If a storybook came to life, it would probably look a lot like Audubon Park. This neighborhood is full of cozy-looking houses set on shady lawns. And you'll see why so many people want to live in Audubon Park.

Audubon Park: A Championship Neighborhood
Once, Audubon Park was used as pastureland. That's because it was filled with rolling hills of rich soil that grew gorgeous green grass, and it still is. Today, all that gorgeous grass makes for beautiful lawns that are coming back to life now that spring is fully upon Louisville.
Audubon Park is famous for the trees that line the streets, and that means it's famous for birds as well. All the streets here are named after birds, and you should hear plenty of them while you explore this neighborhood. Audubon Park is full of large family homes to match the big lawns. Some of the homes here are historic on the outside, with Old World architecture and beautiful styling that harkens back to an earlier age. Along the Port in Portland
The Portland Community is within walking distance of the Convention Center, and if you want to walk you won't find a much better place than the Louisville Riverwalk. It runs along one edge of Portland, right next to the river. The river is what created Portland, back when it was its own city next to Louisville.
Today, Portland is a thriving part of Louisville and an up-and-coming community. This neighborhood is being revitalized and restored, so current residents can enjoy a great mix of the old and the new. Take them up to the Kentucky Exposition Center for a whole day of fun.
A Day at the Fair
Take the kids to the Expo Center so they can meet some of their favorite characters, like SpongeBob Squarepants and Tommy from “Rugrats.” That’s just the beginning. The fair will also present magic shows, hands-on activity centers, inflatable bouncers, face painting, carnival rides, and lots of other stuff. There will be pony rides, roller skating, a petting zoo, mini golf, a special Fitness Fun area from My Gym Louisville, a gaming truck, and fire and safety vehicles. The littlest members of the household will enjoy Tot Town. There's so much to do, it's going to be difficult fitting it into one day.
<img src="https://assets.site-static.com/userfiles/182/image/Louisville_Kids_Fair_2015.jpg" alt="Louisville Kids Fair 2015" title="Louisville Kids Fair 2015" height="256" width="350" />
Many exhibitors will also be at the fair, which pretty much has everything that any kid could want. All children under the age of 2 are admitted for free. Adults cost $10, and children aged 2 to 12 are $8. You’ll find all the excitement at 937 Phillips Lane, close to the airport. It’s also close to several Louisville neighborhoods, all of which have lots and lots of kids.
Beechmont
The Beechmont neighborhood is just blocks away from the Expo Center. This neighborhood is bordered by Iroquois Park on one side, so kids have a nearby place to play all the time. Iroquois Park helped make Beechmont the quiet, shady Louisville community it is today. The neighborhood is named for the many beech trees in the area.
You’ll find many Craftsman-style houses in the neighborhood, an architecture design that’s always in style. Beechmont was once considered a summer neighborhood for the wealthy, and today it still feels like a quiet escape from the fast pace of the city and all the excitement of the Expo Center. Beechmont is close enough to easily enjoy all the events at the Center, but it still has the quiet, peaceful feeling that everyone wants in a neighborhood.
If you’re looking for family fun, take everyone to the Louisville Kids Fair. If you’re looking for quiet serenity, take a stroll through Beechmont later, and enjoy the best of both worlds.

If You Lived Here…
Take a few extra minutes to take a look around Camp Taylor while you’re in the neighborhood. This historic Louisville community was once a military base and camp. It was named for President Taylor, and was once the largest military training camp in the country. Today it’s a pretty Louisville neighborhood with Cape Code and bungalow-style homes. During the 1940s, the area was filled with returning soldiers who were taking advantage of the economic boom of the time.
This entire neighborhood used to be farmland, like much of the area outside downtown Louisville. It’s the perfect place to do a little local sightseeing while you attend the farm machinery show.

At Camp Taylor

The name comes from the fact that it was an actual military camp in 1917. It was named for President Zachary Taylor, and at one time it was the largest military training camp in the United States. In its heyday, 47,500 men were housed here.
The camp was dismantled after WWI and the neighborhood began to appear, a true testament to the Boom Days that followed the war. Much of the land was purchased by returning soldiers. Some of the early buildings were even built from the wood salvaged from the old military camp.
Camp Taylor is mentioned in “The Great Gatsby.” Author F. Scott Fitzgerald was stationed here at one time. Today, nearly 1,500 people call Camp Taylor home. Get a look at this unique, historic Louisville community for yourself. Visit it while you’re near the Expo Center, and learn more about this diverse Louisville neighborhood.
