Take Some Pictures in the Park This August

What do you usually take pictures of to post on social media? Good food, maybe, nice outfits you're wearing, your pet? This August, take some fun pictures in a different location. This is one of the city's truly standout locations and it's gorgeous scenery for any picture. On top of all that, it's historic. Get a look at Tyler Park this summer, and the century-old bridge that runs right through the middle of it.

Walk Along the Bridge

Along with a super cool bridge, this park has all the park-y kind of stuff you might want, too. There are plenty of places to play sports, including tennis courts, basketball courts and pickleball courts, not to mention nature play areas with grassy fields where you can play a variety of games.

Tyler Park Bridge

You will also find playgrounds, walking paths and the sprayground, which is a particular favorite in the summer months. This park was opened over 100 years ago, in 1910. One of the most famous features of the park is the stone tunnel, which takes you under busy Baxter Avenue so you can access the park without worrying about the road traffic.

The bridge was built back in 1904 and it runs right through the middle of the park, so you won't miss it. There are two small streams that meet under the bridge. Find Tyler Park at 1501 Castlewood Avenue. That's in the Highlands area, right across the street from Cherokee Triangle. No visit to this area can truly be complete unless you get a look at this unique neighborhood.

New History in Cherokee Triangle

The Cherokee Triangle neighborhood is also historic. It's full of beautiful homes that date to the days when the nearby Tyler Park was brand-new. Every single home here has its own distinct design and its own unique personality. Some are grand and traditional, with tall chimneys and detailed brickwork. Others are colorful and fun, painted in a vivid hue that catches the eye. You will see elements of Victorian architecture, tall columns, cool windows and all sorts of homes you want to live in.

Don't like historic real estate? There are super modern homes here, too, absolutely stunning places covered with windows. Cherokee Triangle itself is a stunning place, a beautiful neighborhood next to Cherokee Park that has access to all the great schools, shopping and restaurants you'll find in the Bardstown Road area.

It might be time to make your own history in Cherokee Triangle. Go see some historic designs this August and see how much history can influence your future.
