Take Your Own Tour de Louisville This July

During the month of July, the most famous bicycle race in the world is held in France. The Tour de France is a world-famous event. And it’s pretty difficult for just anybody to really be competitive in. People train their whole lives just to do this bike race. But you can stay in the U.S. and challenge yourself to your own Tour de Louisville, if you’re not quite ready for France. Cycling is a great way to burn calories and it gets you around without creating carbon emissions.

Louisville has a lot of amazing places to go cycling. Whether you're a regular cyclist or you're just getting started, there are paths to suit your skill level and the level of challenge you want to face. Meanwhile, you will be surrounded by the inspiring Louisville scenery. Louisville is home to many native plants and woodland creates, sight that make it a lot easier to cycle.

Tour de Louisville on the Louisville Loop

The Tour de France is an endurance race that takes cyclists across great distances. You can ride around and see a lot of Louisville, too. There are plenty of trails that will help you test your endurance.

There's a 19-mile back path in the Parklands of Floyds Fork that will take you past some truly incredible scenery. This trail is accessible for cyclists of all skill levels. You will find bathrooms, bike parking lots and bike repair stations all along the path.

The Parklands are at Beckley Creek Parkway and Shelbyville Road. That's just a quick drive outside of Lake Forest. Lots of people in Louisville have heard of this famous neighborhood. After you see it this July, you might not be able to stop thinking about it.

Touring Lake Forest

Whether you drive in a car or ride your bike, Lake Forest is a great place to be. The winding streets take you up hills, past lakes and picnic areas and next to a championship golf course that’s just for the neighborhood.
