The Annual Pitch, Hit and Run Competition March 30th
The annual Pitch, Hit and Run Competition starts Saturday, March 30th and repeats on Saturday, April 13th. Due to its increasing popularity over the years, this year's event will be hosted at both Seneca Park at 3151 Pee Wee Reese Road and at Shawnee Park downtown near the Great Lawn. The first pitch gets thrown at 10 a.m. and the last ball should be caught by 2 p.m. Sign up and participation is free for boys and girls ages 7 to 14.
It seems only fitting that the home of the Louisville Slugger offer a baseball program that promotes good sportsmanship and fun for kids. The youngsters are coached on how to pitch, hit, run and catch just like professional ball players, but on a more age appropriate level. All game time is monitored for safety and teamwork is encouraged amongst the players.
The MLB supported event is a positive youth program designed to provide area children an opportunity to compete in a skill oriented competition where they will be recognized for their performance.
Those considering participating in the FREE Pitch, Hit and Run Competition have the option of both Seneca and Shawnee Parks on Saturday, March 30th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Whether your children play or support the players by cheering on the stands, this event will take you back to the ballgame days.
