The Dude Abides at Louisville Cult Classic Celebration of the Lebowski Fest July 11th-13th
Joel and Ethan Coen's The Big Lebowski flopped at the box office giving no indication at the time that it would build a rare lasting following. The often-quoted 1998 movie has done exactly that, and in hindsight it's no surprise to fans of the Coen Brothers. No city has embraced this movie quite like Louisville, the site of the first Lebowski Fest. Back for its thirteenth year running, Lebowski Fest comes to Louisville July 11-13 with a full schedule of events.
Careful, Man, There's a Beverage Here!
The festivities kick off on Friday night, July 11, on the lawn at Executive Spare and Strike for the Movie Party. Doors open at 8pm. Those Darlins and The Features with play starting at 9:00pm and the movie screening is at 11:00pm. Saturday afternoon's main event is the Garden Party at 4:00pm with more bands and Lebowski-themed games on the Executive Lawn. Both the Movie Party and the Garden Party will be held rain or shine. Tickets are required. Enjoying a White Russian during the festivities isn't required, but it is recommended.
Obviously You're Not a Golfer
The Lebowski Fest Bowling Party begins Saturday, July 12 at 8:00pm. The ticket price includes unlimited bowling. Costume and trivia contests are the norm, so make sure you don your Lebowski best and brush up on your trivia before you walk out the door for the Bowling Party at Executive Strike and Spare at 911 Phillips Lane. The Legendary After Party follows at midnight with food trucks and DJ Sam Sneed.
On Sunday July 13 WHY Lou Two is hosting the Lebowski Fest Poster Exhibit at 806 E. Market Street. Thirteen years of brilliant art in festival posters on display from 10:30am until 3:30pm and at the right admission price, free.
