The Great American Camp Out June 22nd and 23rd
Summer is here and that means it is time for the Great American Camp Out at the Jefferson Memorial Forest. This fun event happens on Saturday, June 22nd from 7:00 p.m. until Sunday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. The fee for camping is $25 for a family of 4 and $5 for each additional family member.
Don’t have a tent? No worries. Families can rent a platform tent for $15, but pre-registration is required as supplies are limited. Campers can even utilize free fishing poles from the Welcome Center and try night fishing at Tom Wallace Lake.
The Great American Camp Out has been a outdoor lover's favored event since it began in 2005. People around the nation have gathered on the fourth Saturday in June to celebrate Great Outdoors Month and spread awareness about reconnecting with nature. The Jefferson Memorial Forest has turned its festivity into a family affair and encourages group camping, marshmallow roasts, stargazing and all other aspects affiliated with enjoying a night out under the stars.
