The Louisville Greek Festival
This weekend is the one and only Louisville Greek Festival. Their motto proudly displayed on their website states: "There is one Greek Restaurant in Louisville, and it's only open three days a year". This year’s event takes place Friday, June 8th till Sunday, June 10th at the Belvedere Park on 5th and Main Street.
Your family can experience the very best in authentic Greek food. There will be a Gyro booth for the quick fix along with a menu of savory dishes like: spicy Moussaka, the traditional grape leaf Dolmathes, and the Greek casserole Pastutsio, which contains the Grecian version of mac and cheese. If you’re having an inclination towards sweets, you won’t be disappointed. The Greek are known for their sticky, sweet treats like Baklava, Ouzo Cake, Kataifi and Kardopita, all of which drip with honey.
The Greek Festival is all about great food and having fun. You know about the food, now it’s time to hear about fun.
The Kefi and Athenian Dancers will be performing authentic Grecian dances that emphasize the uniqueness of each region. Traditional Bousouki music will be performed all during the festival by Louisville's own Kostas Kastanis Band.
The festival is family friendly and has activities and booths to entertain all ages. There will be Greek crafts, jewelry and souvenirs available to browse. This weekend you should definitely consider getting your family to the Greek… festival!
