Wake up and smell the flowers this weekend in Louisville! It's summer festival time and this weekend has several unique events that you and the family might enjoy. Not to mention Mother’s Day is coming up, and conveniently this weekend’s festivities are offering not only interesting views, but have unique gifts just waiting for Mom to unwrap.
The 45th Annual Art in the Arbor Festival is this weekend at 4936 Brownsboro Road. The Festivities will be going on from Saturday, May 12 till Sunday, May 13, 2012 with hours from 10 am to 6 pm. There will be over 100 chosen artists exhibiting a variety of mediums, a live music stage, Kentucky-Proud food and wine, kid’s crafts and games, interactive arts for all ages, a plant and flower market, art raffle and, best of all, this is a FREE event!
The 17th Annual Gardeners' Fair will also be taking place starting this weekend. This floral festival will be hosted at Locust Grove at 561 Blankenbaker Lane from 10am to 5pm, so you can take a tour of history while smelling fragrant blooms on display. You will find over 70 vendors offering a variety of herbs, flowers & perennials. You will find handmade wrought iron sculptures, water gardens, artistic gardening tools and interesting antique yard furniture. There will also be a Silent Auction featuring art, antiques, gift certificates & unique handcrafted quilts and other items.
This weekend is also the Beechmont Neighborhood Association’s Annual Celebration of Summer around the gazebo on Southern Parkway and Woodlawn. They are courteously inviting everyone to come out and join them. There will be a vast amount of flowers, bedding plants, arts, crafts, pottery and some enlightening gardening demonstrations. You and the family will be entertained by Live Music and the food and drinks will be plentiful, as they don’t want parched plants nor patrons.
The summer events are blooming like flowers, so gather the family and head out of the house to enjoy the festivities. There is fun to be had for all ages, and plenty of beauty to behold, so wake up and smell some flowers!
